Waxing Aftercare Advice
To get the best possible results from your wax, please read and follow the advice below.
Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, especially if this is your first wax. With coarser hair types blood spotting may also occur as the hair is removed. These symptoms usually subsite over the next 24-48 hours but please get in contact if you experience any persistent redness or irritation
For the next 24-48 hours you should keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction. This means:
- Avoid sun exposure (sunbathing, sunbeds)
- No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only)
- No swimming
- Avoid applying perfumed products on the treated area (ie. deodorant, fake tan, perfume)
- Avoid excessive sweating (ie. from an exercise class or sauna)
- Avoid touching or scratching the treated area
- Wear clean, loose fitting clothes
For the next few days you can apply an antiseptic cream (ie. Sudocrem), aloe vera gel or Fur Oil to help soothe and protect the skin. Apply the product with clean hands to the treated area.
You may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 consecutive treatments for your hair to get on a cycle that gives the best results. Please do not be tempted to tweeze or shave between appointments as this will interrupt the hairs natural growth cycle. Shaved hair is also coarser and grows back much quicker. To maintain your smooth appearance, I recommend that you return every 4-5 weeks to be waxed.
Helping prevent ingrown hairs
Starting a few days after your appointment, gently exfoliate your skin daily using Ruff Stuff Scrub. Apply at the end of your shower routine to damp skin (not soaked) in small circular motions for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off and pat yourself dry to leave a moisturising layer of coconut oil on the skin. This will leave your freshly exfoliated skin feeling hydrated.
* You do not need to use a lot of pressure as the scrub will work your dead skin away without much force.
