FAQs
In order to get the very best results out of your wax please look at the information below on how to be prepared for your waxing appointment.
What is hot wax?
Hot wax is a peelable wax, it does not require strips to remove. The wax clings & shrink-wraps around the hair follicle, removing it from the root without pulling at the skin. This makes the experience more comfortable for the client especially on intimate areas where the hair is coarser.
What should I do before I get waxed?
Gently exfoliate the day before your appointment; I like to use a soft bristle palm brush but if you don’t have one to hand an exfoliating glove or even a rough towel will do the job!
How long does my hair need to be?
Hair should be no shorter than a grain of rice. Please allow at least 4 weeks hair growth since your last wax and 3 weeks from your last shave. I know for regular shavers this seems like a long time but it will give you the very best results from your first wax.
Sunbathing/ Caffeine/ Alcohol
Avoid sunbathing/ having a sun bed prior to your waxing appointment. As well as drinking a lot of caffeine or alcohol as this will make the skin much too sensitive and more likely to lift. Therefore, leave it a few days before having your waxing treatment carried out.
What should I wear?
Wear comfy, inexpensive and casual clothing; soothing lotions/products are applied to the waxed area after which may transfer to your clothing.
How often should I be waxed?
I recommend that you return every 4-5 weeks to be waxed; if you are a regular & dedicated waxer you may find that you can leave longer in between your waxing appointments and need only return every 6 weeks. Please do not be tempted to pick up the razor in between your appointments. Shaved hair is coarser and grows back much quicker.
What can I expect from my first intimate wax?
I appreciate that it can be daunting having your first intimate wax but please be reassured that I do my very best to make you feel as comfortable as possible. It’s not uncommon to feel embarrassed or anxious as you prepare to go bare but I can promise you my focus will be on your hair, the direction it grows in, how thick it is and whether you’re prone to in-grown hairs. I do offer disposable pants for basic and high leg bikini waxes.
I’m pregnant- can I be waxed?
Unless there are complications & your doctor/midwife has a reason to advise that you shouldn’t be waxed then yes it’s perfectly fine to be waxed right up until your due date! If you are a new client I’d recommend coming in for a patch test at least 24 hours before hand. Please let me know prior to your appointment if you are pregnant so that I can allow some extra time for your appointment.
How soon after having a baby can I be waxed?
If you have had a natural birth it is safe to have your first intimate wax after 8 weeks. If you have had a tear or episiotomy during child birth then wait 6 months before having a Brazilian wax; you can however have a basic or high leg bikini wax in the meantime. If you have had a C-section it is possible to have an intimate wax 8 weeks after giving birth; please get your GP to check that your scar has fully healed at your 6 week check beforehand. Extra care is taken when waxing the hair around the scar, some women prefer to leave the hair around this area for a longer period of time which is absolutely fine.
